No doubt that you’re a Hardcore Makorra shipper (or a Troll) so I’m going to say this plainly: You just fucked with the wrong person, anon.
Are you suggesting that Makorra made more sense in Book 1? Mako and Korra were suddenly thrust into a romance sub-plot before they became friends. Not even the Krew were “friends” (only Korra and Bolin showed any developing friendship) and instead were thrown together due to circumstances. And then Book 2 came out and all hell broke loose.
I will admit that Korra and Asami’s friendship in the beginning of Book 3 was somewhat forced (after all, they were love rivals in Book 1 and in Book 2 Asami was kicked out from the important fights with hardly any meaningful scenes with Korra) but you know what makes ups for it?
They spent over 85% of Book 3 together and by Book 4, Korra trusts her enough to reveal her Achilles Heel. Can you say the same with Mako? The only thing that is giving Makorra breath in the show are two short hugs and the fact that they were once a couple. Bryke could have dropped a few more subtle hints and had them really work out the awkwardness instead of brushing it aside with hugs. Maybe he could have been with Korra when she was already dressed and rolled her out to Jinora’s Ceremony. There could have been a lot of different ways Makorra could have made itself known in the last episode without it feeling forced.
Oh, wait. I’m sorry. It’s because Korra needs her space and introducing romance while Korra is recovering would be bad and since Asami is a girl, it makes sense that she would care for her. Again, bullshit! Animation costs money and everything has to be deliberate. They are just repeating the same mistake they did in Book 1: rushed romance without substance.
Below the “Read Me" is my analysis on why Makorra is a weak pairing and why Korrasami has better potential. It’s the edited version I posted on a forum but I believe it will get my point across just as well.
It’s long. Very, very long. Reader Discretion is advised.
For someone who is so sure that their OTP will be canon, you are acting awfully desperate. It’s cute, really. I’ll give you points for trying though.
Here is my post on why I disagree with you but since I know you won’t read it, I’ll try to simplify it…with pictures! :D
Okay, first of all, it’s “shut the fuck up bitch” not “just the fuck up btch”. If you’re going to insult me, do it right. And finally, did you even read my post? Not only that but I think you might be the same anon that threw a temper tantrum when I posted my Book 4 Korrasami video. If that’s the case, then read my “Round 1: Why Makorra is a Weak Pairing" analysis. After all, it was a gift for you. And if you’re feeling up to it, read my "Round 2: Korrasami-Makorra Analysis [Evidence]" post as well and be enlightened my trollin’ friend.
As for your, er, “counter-argument”, I’ll try to explain why I disagree in the simplest manner possible. Still with me?
If you’re hoping for a long post on it, I will have to think things through first. I just posted a “Korrasami-Makorra Analysis Round 3" post and as soon as it was posted, I noticed quite a number of new asks (normal asks thank the spirits) and I want to rest for the moment. However, what I can say for now is that while Asami’s character development isn’t great (unfortunately), her characterization has been consistent unlike Mako’s who went from aloof/indifferent to a dork. Hm. Development. Who woulda’ guessed.
